++ Alert level 4 in Wals-Siezenheim: fire in shopping center ++
For reasons that are still unclear, this occurred on the morning of May 2nd, 2024
A fire broke out in an underground corridor between a shopping center and an office building.
Due to the high fire load, there was a lot of smoke,
which quickly spread into the office building and the shopping center, as well as a restaurant above.
The affected buildings were immediately evacuated and firefighting and smoke extraction began.
In order to have enough breathing apparatus wearers available, the Alert level up to 4 elevated.
A total of twelve respiratory protection teams were deployed to fight the fire.
For further support, a fire support vehicle (special vehicle) from the Salzburg professional fire department was requested.
In total there were approx. 130 firefighters with 28 vehicles in use.
Several people were taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
