Guernsey and CT Plus are conducting a trial to identify an electric bus suitable for the Channel Island’s narrow, winding roads.
The Enviro100EV has been specifically designed to meet these challenges, with a width of just 2.35 meters and a length of 8.5 metres. Despite its compact dimensions, it offers 25 seats and a maximum capacity of 45 passengers.
CT Plus and Alexander Dennis will analyze data relating to energy consumption, charging requirements and maneuverability on the island’s bus routes. Alexander Dennis will use an automotive industry-standard multiphysics simulation to fully model the routes.
Shaun Millar, National Account Manager at Alexander Dennis, commented: “We are excited to be testing the Enviro100EV in Guernsey. We believe our ‘big little bus’ will suit the island’s roads well thanks to its size and manoeuvrability, while still offering the comfort of a larger vehicle. This will be one of the first road tests for the Enviro100EV and we look forward to evaluating the results together with CT Plus.”
Kevin Hart, director of CT Plus, added: “It’s fantastic to see Guernsey at the forefront of trials of the Enviro100EV. This demonstrates the manufacturers’ ongoing commitment to finding the optimal solution for the island. The Enviro100EV offers astonishing capacity due to its compact dimensions, allowing it to carry approximately three more passengers than the buses currently in use in Guernsey”.
