Alfa Romeo Milano – Alfa’s first electric car Here is Alfa Romeo’s first electric car

NEW TIMES: Alfa Romeo is making moves to be sportier than the other Stellantis cars on the same platform. Check the logo in the grill.

And the first electric Alfa has become a sporty crossover with a vigorous design. But you have to choose between long range or lots of horsepower.

Italian Alfa Romeo has a long history that includes everything from the most beautiful racing cars to the biggest rust holes.

Common for the vast majority is a focus on driving pleasure. And now Alfa Romeo is going electric for the first time.

Comes in two engine variants in Norway

In Norway, the Alfa Romeo Milano will be offered with two engine variants, either 156 or 240 horsepower.

The version with 156 horsepower gets a WLTP range of 410 kilometers.

Stellantis does not write anything about what the range of the version with 240 horsepower will be the press release which was released today, so here we just have to assume that this edition has not yet received an official WLTP range, but that it will be shorter is quite certain.

For the time being, we don’t know anything about when it will arrive in Norway or how much it will cost, but expect the cheapest model to cost just under NOK 400,000 – and a decent price premium for the top model with all the goodies.

In addition, the virtual assistant Hey Alfa and ChatGPT (AI) are integrated into the car’s voice control.

Can you guess what it’s called?

Sharing a platform with others

Alfa Romeo is a brand in the Stellantis group, and this involves platform sharing with models we know well from before.

This means that here we get a battery pack of 54 kWh net – and front-wheel drive.

COMPACT: Sporty lines and with its 4.17 m, it is slightly larger than its group siblings Jeep Avenger and Opel Mokka.

To stand out, they go all in on design. Beautifully lit pictures can of course lie a little, but we like what we see.

The 4.17 cm car is nine cm longer than the Jeep Avenger and two cm longer than the Opel Mokka. Otherwise, the car is 1.78 m wide and 1.5 m high.

The rear seat space will probably be comparable, i.e. rather cramped, but the Milano boasts a 400-litre boot.

This will be the first car on the platform with a small front too. It just leaves room for the cables and perhaps the warning triangle.

Aggressiv look

There is an awful lot going on at the front, but the main focus is the traditional central grill, which has had parts of the logo embossed into it. Very cool.

The headlights (LED Matrix) are also unlike anything else we’ve seen. All in all, the whole car has an aggressive appearance.

BIG: 20-inchers are big on such a small car. Check the monoblock caliper. The standard wheel size on the weakest model is 18 inches.

It also has the largest wheels to date on the platform. Gorgeous 20-inchers. Rear door handles are placed behind the window, as on the Jeep, to give a two-door look.

LOGO: The hidden door handle is recognizable from the Avenger. The Alfa hose can be found on the D-pillar.

The hedge is perhaps the least fortunate, but certainly gives a distinctive character. The confidence is also in place at the back – with “Alfa Romeo” in the largest font size I’ve seen so far, just look below:

RED: Alfa Romeos should preferably be red. Here also with black details.

The details continue inside. Of course, you recognize all the buttons in the center console and the steering wheel from the other Stellantis cars.

Funnily enough, they have called their driving modes DNA – for Dynamic, Natural and Advanced.

ALFA SWITCH: The parts are the same as in the other cars, but the packaging smells of Alfa.

You have the same row of buttons with a volume button below the screen as the Jeep Avenger and more, and the 10.25-inch screen itself has the same hopeless setup as all the others on the same platform.

SPORTY: The choice of materials is typically Alcantara and leather with red stitching.

But they have managed to create a great atmosphere with instrumentation, which takes the mind back to a time when you had two round gauges and round ventilation nozzles. And the sporty seats put the finishing touch on the I.

Mer power

But while Citroën, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Opel and Peugeot do not get more power than 156 horses, you can choose the Veloce equipment variant with 240 horses in the Alfa Romeo Milano.

Sharper driving characteristics

Measures have been taken to make the car as fun as possible behind the wheel.

It gets a sharper steering ratio and a smaller steering wheel. The fittest variant gets a sports suspension that lowers the car by 2.5 cm, and stronger stabilizer bars both front and rear, to ensure less roll in corners.

It even gets a vibration damper to ensure that the forces reach the ground.

TOUGH PARTY IN THE CLASS: But for now we don’t know the price or when it will arrive.

To stop the car, it has received four-piston calipers at the front, which pinch 380 mm brake discs.
