Alice Wood: – – Saw through her lies

Alice Wood from Great Britain ran over her fiance, Ryan Watson (24), outside the couple’s home in Cheshire on May 6, 2022.

In January 2024, she was convicted of Watson’s murder, and now she has received the sentence.

Chester Crown Court has sentenced her to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 18 years.

Lost my temper

The prosecution used witness statements and played surveillance videos to support the claim that Wood had killed his girlfriend.

It was explained that she allegedly ran over Watson three times, when she lost her temper after an argument.

The third time she hit Watson, he fell under the car and was dragged 160 meters by the vehicle.

The police have also posted one video which shows several clips from the surveillance material that was used to get the 23-year-old convicted.

The pair are said to have argued publicly at a party in Hanley, Stoke, shortly before the murder. Both were drunk, and there must have been a heated atmosphere already in the car on the way home.

The reason for the argument is said to have been that Wood accused Watson of flirting with a female birthday guest. When they got home, Wood lost his temper and ran over Watson.

– Only yourself to blame

Wood was sentenced on Friday at Chester Crown Court by Judge Michael Leeming, who delivered a clear message to the 24-year-old.

– Prison can be difficult for you Alice Wood, but you only have yourself to blame for the situation you now find yourself in, says Leeming according to Sky News.

After the sentencing, the lead investigator in the case, Nigel Parr, said that Wood used the vehicle as a weapon on purpose.

“She knew what she had done, but she refused to take responsibility for her actions, forcing Ryan’s family to go through a trial and watch footage of his last moments,” says Parr.

The 24-year-old has previously claimed that it was all a “tragic accident.”

– Saw through her lies

– During the trial Wood declared her innocence, but fortunately the jury saw through her lies and she was found guilty of Ryan’s murder. While nothing is going to bring Ryan back, I hope the verdict will bring a sense of closure for his family, knowing that justice has been served. Our thoughts remain with Ryan’s family and friends at this time,” said Parr.

Parachutist (33) fell to his death

When Wood was convicted of murder in January, the Watkins family commented that they were relieved she had been found guilty.

– We finally got justice for our beloved son, Ryan. No sentence will be long enough to make up for what she has taken from us. Ryan will never be able to live out his dreams, the family said in their official statement.
