Real Madrid secured the Spanish championship title early. The Madrilenians won 3-0 at home against Cadiz thanks to goals from Brahim Diaz, Jude Bellingham and Joselu after the break. Coach Carlo Ancelotti had rested some stars before the important second leg in the Champions League against Bayern Munich next Wednesday.
Because Barcelona then lost the duel with Girona 2:4 after conceding 3 goals within 10 minutes (from 2:1 to 2:4), record champions Real celebrated their 36th championship title with 4 rounds to go. Real Madrid replaces arch-enemy Barça, who secured the championship title last year.
Barcelona is only in third place
Barcelona also had to overtake Girona in the table and slipped to third place.
