The Colombian actress Ania Margoth Acosta Rengifo was a victim of femicide in Mexico. Missing since June 2023, the Colombian Embassy in that country confirmed, through a message on her official account on X, formerly Twitter, her death.

“With pain we inform that Ania Margoth Acosta, a Colombian victim of trafficking and a femicide, but also of abandonment by the State, was buried. Today we failed a family, to whom we apologize, and we ask the judicial authorities for a prompt investigation,” the message from the diplomatic office reads.

Since the Colombian disappeared, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Michoacán issued an Alba alert, which is used to undertake the search for women and girls. On the day of her disappearance, Acosta Rengifo contacted one of her relatives and told him that she was in the city of Morelia. They never heard from her again.

From the department of Chocó, his family experienced the anguish of not having information for almost ten months. The anguish began on June 16 of last year, when the actress, who appeared in productions such as El Comandante and Las Detectives y el Víctor, stopped sharing content on her social networks and cut off all communication with those close to her.

It is believed that she traveled to Mexico to seek better opportunities. Apparently, she was destined for Guadalajara. However, it is presumed that she was kidnapped on June 22, as documented by the Mexican organization IDHEAS, Strategic Human Rights Litigation. This institution established that the hypothesis that she had been working on for months was that the people who deprived her of her freedom did so to use her for illicit purposes.
