Final preparations for SL Apollo Tires in view of the next Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (FIA ETRC), which will start on May 25th in Italy at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.
Building on a very successful debut season in 2023, SL Apollo Tires Trucksport has carried out extensive preparation work over the winter to improve the competitiveness and reliability of its racing truck. The main objective is to eliminate the mechanical problems that plagued them last year, thus maximizing the potential for race victories in the challenging five months of the season ahead.
In the 2023 SL Championship Apollo Tires Trucksport achieved several podiums, as well as an impressive third place in the overall standings. Furthermore, team driver Sascha Lenz was awarded the prestigious Driver’s Driver Award, voted by the other FIA ETRC competitors, in recognition of his individual performances.
This season, the 36-year-old German will take part in eight races at renowned circuits across Europe, including the iconic Nürburgring and Le Mans, before the final race at the Circuito de Madrid Jarama in Spain on 5 October.
The next FIA ETRC edition will see the introduction of a number of technical changes imposed by the FIA governing body, including the requirement of a new tire compound and new restrictions on the front axles. This will be the most comprehensive set of technical modifications in recent history, significantly changing the characteristics of each vehicle, particularly with regards to braking and suspension response.
Leveraging its expertise in simulation software, Apollo Tires has analyzed and defined the best configurations throughout the year to help develop an innovative new axle that provides the team’s MAN TGS truck with high levels of cornering and high-speed stability . With major rivals building and testing new racing trucks for next season, SL Apollo Tires Trucksport is positioned to secure victories early on in the championship.
