Appeal Decision, Ex Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate’s Sentence Increased!

Bisnis.comJAKARTA – The DKI Jakarta High Court increased the compensation penalty that must be paid by the former Minister of Communications and Information Johnny G Plate from IDR 15.5 billion to IDR 16.1 billion and US$ 10,000.

The additional monetary penalty was decided in the appeal case hearing which was read out by the PT DKI Jakarta high panel of judges on Monday (12/2/2024) yesterday.

“Imposed a compensation penalty worth Rp. 16.1 billion and US$ 10,000,” as quoted from the Supreme Court’s official website, Tuesday (13/2/2024).

Meanwhile, the judge warned, if Plate does not pay the replacement money no later than 1 month after the decision obtains permanent legal force, then his property can be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off to cover the replacement money.

Apart from that, the ruling said, if the NasDem politician does not have sufficient assets to pay the replacement money, he will be sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Meanwhile, Johnny is a defendant in the BTS Kominfo project corruption case. Johnny has been found guilty at the first instance court and at the appeal level. The corporal prison sentence has not changed, namely 15 years in prison.

Even though there were additions, Plate’s compensation penalty at the appeal level was relatively lighter than the demands of the prosecutor who asked the judge to impose a compensation penalty of IDR 17.8 billion with a subsidiary of 7.5 years in prison.
