The autopsy of baby Elena, whose mother Marica M. accused doctor MM from Sremska Mitrovica of obstetric violence, was completed, and Marica M. and her husband took over the findings and said that the death occurred due to a violent birth. “We took the autopsy findings, the baby’s death occurred due to a violent birth, Elena’s head is also bruised,” Marica revealed.

The girl died at 4 hours and 38 minutes.

“Based on the clinical course and the received autopsy findings we are of the opinion that the unfavorable outcome was due to severe perinatal asphyxia of the fetus and massive aspiration of meconiuma, and the consequent occurrence of bilateral pneumothorax and bilateral suprarenal hemorrhage. The presence of a subgaleal hematoma was also verified,” it is written in the conclusion of the forensic pathologists.

Marica M. also revealed that their family should contacts a lawyer, and that he will not stop until justice is served and doctor MM is punished.

“I would like this to be resolved as soon as possible, we should also contact a lawyer, we will not stop until the doctor is punished,” she said.

Let us remind you that after the confessions of Marica M. and Jelena I., who bravely shared their experiences of obstetric violence, the public in Serbia is now increasingly asking questions about the conditions in the delivery rooms. This serious problem has attracted the attention of not only citizens, but also competent institutions, and the number of accusations of inappropriate behavior of medical staff in delivery rooms is showing a worrying increase.

The case of the doctor from Sremska Mitrovica, whose actions were investigated by the inspection of the Ministry of Health, is in the public’s focus.
