Bad weather, landslide falls on the A23 motorway in Friuli

by admin

The A23 motorway is closed to traffic in both directions due to a landslide that fell this morning in the municipality of Amaro (Udine). The heavy rains that fell in the area in the last few hours caused the rocks to detach. The roadway was invaded by rocky debris and large boulders. Three vehicles were stuck due to the landslide but no one was hit. The firefighters from the Udine command arrived on site, intervening together with the teams from the Gemona and Tarvisio detachments.

The rescuers first made sure that there were no injured people in the three stranded vehicles. The landslide hit the motorway around 6am in the stretch between the Carnia and Pontebba toll booths, which was closed immediately afterwards with mandatory exits. Traffic Police and staff from the Autostrade Alto Adriatico concessionaire are also present on site. The material will now have to be removed and wait for an inspection by geologists who will have to check if there are dangers of new detachments.
