A bridge in the city of Baltimore, in the United States, collapsed over the Patapsco River after being hit by a cargo ship, according to rescue services.
Kevin Cartwright, director of communications for the Baltimore City Fire Department, confirmed to the BBC that the bridge had been hit by “a large vessel,” causing it to collapse into the river.
He also said that several people and vehicles fell into the water.
A rescue operation is currently underway at the scene.
At the moment it is unknown if there are any deaths, but the accident has been described as a “massive casualty event.”
