“Banderas a half mast”, preview of Medalla’s fourth album

The LP will be released this fall and it will be a darker and more introspective album, as can be guessed in this first preview. In the words of the band itself: “Banderas a half mast” is the “first song we wrote together after recording ‘Broken Edge’. It was the cornerstone on which we built the sound we were looking for for the new album. We wanted to make an album with a constant narrative, focused on feelings such as loneliness, sadness or existential emptiness, without neglecting the epic”.

The disc has been produced again by Sergio Perez Garcia (Svper), a producer of artists like Mujeres, Joe Crepúsculo, Baiuca, La Bien Querida and who has also worked with Los Punsetes, María Rodés & The Star of David o Lucia Tacchetti.

This new material comes only a year and a half after the publication of “Broken Edge”, their critically acclaimed third album and with which they have toured —and continue to tour— all over Spain from 2021 to 2023. In the magazine we commented: “Medalla strengthens their career by signing for the Limbo Starr label, with which they publish a third ambitious work in which they show their ability to attack and combine different genres, from robust kraut-rock to psychedelia and even bossa nova, all under the umbrella of a personality that is increasingly their own. Their willingness to flee from that mimicry that has made numerous local bands sound too similar in recent years is commendable”.
