Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen continues to make history in world football and is already the team with the world record for most unbeaten games in the 21st century.
This Saturday, the Aspirin team tied Stuttgart (2-2) in the 97th minute with a goal from Robert Andrich and that allowed them to continue dreaming of a perfect season.
In this way, Leverkusen reached 46 consecutive official matches without losing and surpassed what was done by Rijeka and Dinamo Zagreb of Croatia, who with 45 games in a row were the clubs with the longest unbeaten streak.
Dinamo Zagreb set the record of 45 matches without losing between November 2014 and September 2015, while Rijeka did the same between April 2016 and May 2017.
Leverkusen will have the opportunity to win two more titles at the end of the season. On May 25, they will play the Pokal (German Cup) Final against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
Meanwhile, on May 2 and 9, they will play the first and second leg of the UEFA Europa League Semifinals against Roma in search of qualifying for the Final. In the Bundesliga they will close the season facing Frankfurt, Bochum and Augsburg.
