Four Belgian soldiers have been arrested after a violent incident in the center of Åndalsnes on the night of Sunday. One person has been sent to the hospital in Molde.

People who have footage of the incident are asked not to publish it on social media.

The person who has been sent to hospital lives in Åndalsnes. A short questioning has been taken of the person in question, they write further.

The police will not elaborate on the incident or say anything about the extent of the damage, but inform NTB that more information about the case will be available at 12 noon on Sunday.

The Norwegian Armed Forces’ operational headquarters (FOH) confirms opposite The daily newspaper that the case concerns Belgian soldiers on winter training in Norway.

– The case is now being handled by the Norwegian police, who cooperate well with the Belgian military police and the Norwegian Armed Forces, informs FOH.

It is a Belgian battalion of paratroopers who are on winter training at Møre og Fjordane Home Guard District 11, according to Åndalsnes Newspaper. There are almost 200 Belgian professional soldiers taking part in the exercise, and they are based at Setnesmoen camp, writes the newspaper.

The exercise is called BELSOF Arctic Training, and the letters stand for Belgian Special Operations Forces.

To Romsdal’s Budstikke says operations manager Jens Dahl that they were notified of the incident at 02.12.
