Berlin AfD arbitration court approves the exclusion of Nicolaus Fest from the party

An AfD arbitration tribunal has approved the exclusion of Berlin MEP Nicolaus Fest from the party, as requested by the party leadership. The decision of the Berlin State Arbitration Court was made last Friday, a party spokesman said on Wednesday upon request. The decision was based on the non-payment of elected officials’ fees.

First they had “Welt” [Bezahlinhalt] reported on the decision. It is not final yet. Fest told the newspaper that he would submit an application for a review of the decision to the AfD Federal Arbitration Court, the “Welt” report said.

Fest justified the suspension of his payments in an email to the AfD federal office with a possible “intrigue” against him. In this context, he also made allegations against the two federal chairmen Alice Weidel and Tino Chrupalla as well as the AfD’s top candidate for the European elections in June, Maximilian Krah.

The AfD party executive committee unanimously decided in April last year to initiate party expulsion proceedings against Fest.
