NOVE MESTO (Dagbladet): Wierer wrote in an Instagram post that the joint start will be her last race this season. It is still uncertain whether this will be her last race as a biathlete.
The Italian superstar has been unsure for a long time whether she will continue her commitment to the Olympics in 2026.

After the normal distance, Wierer stated that she still did not know if she should bet against the Olympics at home.
– How is it for you to get all the questions about the future?
– It’s tiring, but I really don’t have the answer, so I can only answer that I don’t know, she told Dagbladet.

The break after the WC means that Wierer will not appear in Holmenkollen, where the World Cup race will be held in two weeks. On Instagram, “Doro” writes:
– With the WC, I end this season early. It has been difficult, but it is not goodbye, she writes and ends with a winking smiley face.

Julia Simon has competed against Wierer for many years, and many believe she has taken over the throne as the world‘s best biathlete. The French woman – who has won three golds in Nove Mesto – says:
– She can do what she wants. For me, she has been very important. She has given me strong competition and has been an important part of biathlon. I really want to achieve much of what Doro has achieved, says Simon to Dagbladet.
Shock on Danish TV
A few minutes after the Instagram post, she followed up with another post. There she confirmed that she will work as an expert for Eurosport during the Olympics in Paris.
The 33-year-old was second overall in the World Cup last season. With three Olympic medals, four World Cup golds – two of them from Anterselva – and 18 World Cup victories, Wierer has been someone to be reckoned with for many years.

This season has been duller. The Italian team was meeting in Norway in the weeks before the Norwegian season opener at Lake Sjusjøen. Wierer was registered for the opening race, but did not start.
Reason: Disease.
– It was awful. I started the season sick, tried to run some relays, but it didn’t work. It was the wrong decision on my part. If I could turn back time, I would never have run those races. Then I would rather focus on getting properly healthy, she told Dagbladet.
