During the celebrations of Good Friday, 29, the president of USA Joe Biden designated March 31st as Trans Day of Visibility. The choice of date generated controversy due to its coincidence with Easter Sunday, a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In the statement released by the White Housethe Democrat claims that the date aims to “honor the extraordinary courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union — where all people are created equal and treated equally throughout their lives”.
Biden stated that he is proud that his administration has “defended justice from the beginning”, ensuring that the LGBTQIA+ community lives “openly, safely, with dignity and respect”. He is also proud of having appointed transgender leaders to his administration and ending the ban on trans Americans in the US military.
“Today, we send a message to all transgender Americans: You are loved, heard and understood,” Biden said in a statement. “You belong. You are America, and my entire Administration and I stand with you.”

The Day of Visibility Transgender was started in 2009 as an “awareness day to celebrate the successes of transgender and gender non-conforming people.” The Democrat issued the first presidential proclamation in “recognition” of Trans Day of Visibility on March 31, 2021, and has issued a proclamation every year since.
Criticism of Biden
The president’s statement resulted in criticism from opponents of the Biden administration and Republican Party politicians.
Through press secretary Karoline Leavitt, the former president Donald Trump repudiated Biden’s decision and demanded an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians living in the United States. For Trump, the episode is “offensive” and highlights “a years-long attack on Christianity”.
“We call on Joe Biden’s flawed campaign and the White House to issue an apology to the millions of Catholics and Christians across America who believe that tomorrow is for a single celebration — the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
Former US Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy used his Twitter/X profile to give his opinion on what happened.: “Joe Biden just proclaimed that ‘Transgender Day of Visibility’ is on Sunday, March 31st,” said Ramaswamy . “I wonder how he got to that date.”
Joe Biden just proclaimed that “Transgender Visibility Day” is on Sunday, March 31st. I wonder how he came up with that date.

Alex Mooney, representative of West Virginia in the US House of Representatives, made the same criticisms as the former deputy and highlighted the “coincidence in the timing” by Biden. He also said that celebrating the date is a direct attack on Christianity.
