During a routine examination of a fish, it was found that the mercury content was elevated, prompting Billa to issue a recall.

Mercury can enter the food chain through deposits in soil and water and thus end up in food. Predatory fish, such as tuna, which are at the bottom of the food chain, have the possibility of increased accumulation of mercury. For this reason, they are subject to regular routine examinations. It is not recommended to consume foods with a best-before date of February 5, 2024.
