Overseas Network, May 16th According to a report by the British “Guardian” on May 16, a black man in the United States was shot dead by a security guard while he was fleeing from shoplifting. The local prosecutor announced that he would not charge the security guard, sparking public protests.

The video released by the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office on the 15th showed that on April 27, 24-year-old Banco Brown entered a supermarket in San Francisco, California to steal. When he was about to leave with a package of goods, he was caught by security guard Anthony. Anthony hit Brown on the head multiple times, knocking him to the ground. As Brown stood up to exit the store, Anthony shot Brown in the chest, killing Brown.

San Francisco police arrested Anthony after the incident. A few days later, the San Francisco District Attorney announced the release of Anthony, saying in a statement that surveillance video showed that Anthony acted “in self-defense” and that Anthony feared Brown would attack him with a knife if he was released. However, witnesses confirmed that Brown did not carry a knife.

Since the shooting, people in San Francisco have staged protests calling for criminal charges against Anthony. Brown’s family said,The prosecution set a dangerous precedent. In Los Angeles, many people have had to make difficult decisions to meet basic needs, and issuing force passes to stores will lead to more tragedies. “(Overseas Network/Li Fang)
