Skien municipality has on Monday sent out a boil warning to the residents of Skien vest due to a water leak.
– Due to a water leak in the Skien west area, the water has been out for a period today, 18 March. When the water returns, we recommend boiling the drinking water until further notice is given, says the text message sent out by the municipality, writes Telemark newspaper.
– The water may be discolored after shutdown, it is written further.
The cause of the boil warning is a water leak that has occurred in the water mains.
– I don’t have exact figures on how many people this concerns, but there are thousands of households. Those who have not received the message are not affected, says unit manager for water and sewage in Skien municipality, Silje Nesheim Haugane.
The municipality surveys whether there is a need to release water to schools and institutions in the area.
