At the casting show “Germany’s Next Topmodel” Theresia Fischer reached 11th place in 2019. However, many people remember the now 31-year-old because she decided to take a drastic step: Theresia Fischer had her legs lengthened twice (in 2016 and in 2022) with a controversial operation. From her original height of 1.70 meters, she grew to an impressive 1.84 meters. Cost: around 140,000 euros. Today she would probably like to reverse her decision.

Fischer still has metal rods in her lower legs to support her bones. An X-ray examination revealed that her bones were still not fully fused. Then the shock: “At a certain point it’s difficult for the bones to actually come together,” her doctor tells her on the show. “One then speaks of a kind of artificial joint that is formed. The ends of the joint repel each other rather than coming together. I think that this is going in that direction.” This is how a so-called pseudoarthrosis can develop. Bad news for Fischer, also because she wants a child and her body should have recovered from the strain of the procedures before becoming pregnant.
In an interview with Colorful Fischer had previously confessed that she would not opt for her operation again: “Of course, that was definitely a mistake. You can condemn that, I do that too.” When she looks back on her decision today, “I think so, Theresia, how bad things were for you, what situation must you have been in at the time to be able to get involved like that?”
However, she doesn’t want to use the word “regret”: “I always say that I don’t regret anything. Because I have also learned from these experiences, even if they are painful ones.” Today she consciously provokes with her legs: “Because I say I’ve come to terms with them. My legs are part of my life, why should I hide them?”
Complications
The ex-casting show participant 2023 described the strain after the procedures as great. Complications arose twice due to bone infections. Fischer: “It was hellish pain. I took opiates, and not in small quantities. At that point I was no longer in control of my senses.” She still suffers from occasional cramps in her legs today.
Fischer had his thighs lengthened back in 2017. The operation on the lower legs followed six years later. The reason: The length of the limbs no longer fit each other in proportion. According to her own statements, the model had difficulty coordinating her legs.
