The game
Flamengo started the match by putting pressure on Sampaio Corrêa. The red-blacks created the first chance with David Luiz. The defender headed for a great save by Leandro Matheus. But after nine minutes, the Flamengo fans opened the scoring with Bruno Henrique. The striker caught a rebound from a free kick taken by De la Cruz and sent it into the net.
Even after the goal, the Red and Blacks continued with their offensive stance. So much so that Pulgar hit the crossbar. Then, it was Arrascaeta’s turn to attempt a volley, but Leandro Matheus made the save without difficulty. Flamengo almost doubled it in the 30th minute, when Gabriel took a free kick and Sampaio Corrêa’s goalkeeper saved it with his foot.
Flamengo maintained control of the match and scored the second goal in the 41st minute. Gabriel received a pass in the area and touched it to the goalkeeper. Thus, the red-and-blacks went into the break with a good lead on the scoreboard.

In the second half, Flamengo continued to control the match. The red-blacks slowed down a little, but didn’t let Sampaio Corrêa threaten in the offensive part.
The Flamengo fans got close to the opponent’s area with ease, but they started to miss the last pass. As time went by, Tite removed some of his starters to save them for the weekend’s classic.
In the final minutes, Sampaio Corrêa still looked for the goal of honor. However, Flamengo knew how to manage the result to leave the field with three points from Belém.
