To stay at the top of the table after the end of the round, Botafogo needs to hope, this Sunday, for Bragantino’s stumbles, which has 7 points and faces Fortaleza, in Ceará, at 6:30 pm; Athlético Paranaense, Juventude’s opponent in Serra Gaúcha at 6:30 pm; and also Inter, which faces Atlético Goianiense at 8pm in Beira-Rio.
Furacão and Colorado have 6 points each and, to overtake Botafogo, they need to win and make up the difference in goal difference.
Flamengo, on the other hand, saw a sequence of 12 state classics without defeat interrupted and reached the third consecutive game without winning. The goals in this Sunday’s duel were scored by Luiz Henrique, after a beautiful play from a corner kick seven minutes into the second half, and by Savarino, in stoppage time.
The rivals return to the field in midweek for the Copa do Brasil. Rubro-Negro hosts Amazonas at Maracanã, at 9:30 pm, on Wednesday (1st). Alvinegro faces Vitória at Nilton Santos, at 7pm on Thursday (2).
