Brazil expresses its “concern” about the electoral crisis in Venezuela

The Brazilian Government expressed concern about the obstacles faced by opposition candidate Corina Yoris in registering for the Venezuelan presidential election. In an official statement, Brazil stated that these impediments are not in accordance with the Barbados agreements. The candidate proposed by the Unitary Platform, an opposition force, was prevented from registering despite facing no judicial decisions against her. This action contradicts the agreements reached in Barbados, according to Brazil. The Lula Government noted the lack of coherence between international agreements and the obstacles in the Venezuelan electoral process, raising concerns about the fairness of the upcoming election.
