The outlines of the story are still to be clarified but there seems to be no doubt about the author of the heinous murder. According to reports from the British authorities, Antonella Castelvedere, 52, mother of a 12-year-old girl, was killed by her husband. A murder that took place at home in Wickham Road, a residential area in the borough of Colchester, in the county of Essex, where Antonella Castelvedere had moved 25 years ago, home to the prestigious University of Essex and the oldest castle of the United Kingdom.
Antonella was originally from Bagnolo Mella, a town in the Brescia area, where her brother and parents live. A cousin of her confirmed the news of the woman’s death at the hands of her husband. “She will be back in Italy maybe a couple of times – she declared to the Giornale di Brescia – since she had decided to move overseas”. Senior Lecturer in English Literature and Head of the Master’s at Suffolk University, she was also an expert in critical pedagogical practices.
The murder took place in the house where the 52-year-old Italian lived with her family. She would have been hit several times with a knife. When the police and rescuers intervened, the teacher from Brescia was still alive, but the doctors were unable to save her: she died at the crime scene.
Initially it was thought of a home robbery, so much so that the Essex Police officers launched an appeal asking to come forward to “anyone who has videos or testimonies”. Then the turning point: “No one else is sought – said Chief Investigative Inspector Antony Alcock – It is a family murder and there is no threat to those who live in Colchester.” Her husband was also injured in the fight and officers arrested him on murder charges. He now finds himself guarded in the hospital. Police are reconstructing the victim’s married life to clarify the motive for the murder.
