Nigeria’s prison administration spokesperson Olanrewaju Anjolin said in a statement that a group of unidentified militants attacked a prison in the Abolongo area of ​​Oyo State on the evening of the 22nd and exchanged fire with the guards. The militants used explosives to break the wall into the prison and forcibly released 837 detainees facing the court.

An Qiaolin said that the prison administration immediately initiated the arrest procedure after the incident, and 262 escaped persons have been arrested so far. He called on the people to provide assistance and promptly report the whereabouts of the fugitives to the security department.

According to Xinhua News Agency, in recent months, there have been successive armed attacks in Nigeria, including attacks on police stations and prisons. On April 5, a prison in Imo State in southern Nigeria was attacked by militants, causing more than 1,800 prisoners to escape; on September 12, a prison in Kogi State in central Nigeria was attacked by militants, causing more than 200 prisoners to escape.
