Castrol has launched a new product in its commercial vehicle lubricants range. It’s called VECTON and complies with the 2022 heavy-duty (HD) engine specifications established by the Association des constructeurs européens d’automobiles (ACEA). Castrol VECTON LONG DRAIN 5W-30 E6/E9 is a fully synthetic engine oil formulated to lubricate and protect heavy-duty vehicles for longer and complies with all European regulatory and performance requirements.
The new lubricant replaces VECTON FUEL SAVER 5W-30 E6/E9 in the Castrol line and offers a higher specification profile, including the new ACEA HD E8 and E11 specifications which take into account the increasing complexity of vehicles and engines and the increasingly widespread adoption of alternative fuels. Castrol VECTON LONG DRAIN 5W-30 E6/E9 also aligns with the significant advances made in lubricants’ performance and offers superior protection from oxidation and deposits. The new product has also passed the most recent tests of the American Petroleum Institute (API) and therefore favors greater global synergies between API itself and ACEA.

During the development of the new product, Castrol carried out two new tests to ensure that the lubricant provided optimal performance in terms of aeration and oxidation control.
Castrol VECTON LONG DRAIN 5W-30 E6/E9 has now been approved globally for more OEM specifications than the previous product, including MAN M 3775/3677, Volvo VDS-4.5 and Deutz DQC IV-18 LA. Workshop staff will be able to find further information on the new product, including all compatible OEM specifications, within the “Find car engine oils and fluids” tool. On this occasion Castrol also changed the name of the product from Castrol VECTON FUEL SAVER 5W-30 E7 to Castrol VECTON LONG DRAIN 5W-30 E7.
