According to some local media, she would be called Mir, which in Ukrainian means “Peace”, she is very small but she is fine. She poses calmly, with her eyes closed, while her mother’s hands caress her face. A photo that immediately became a symbol of hope on social networks, where users wished the little girl and her parents their best wishes. “As the grenades are rumbling in the sky, little Ukrainians are being born,” someone wrote on Twitter.

“The first (to our knowledge) child was born in one of the Kiev shelters. Underground, next to burning buildings and Russian tanks … We should call it ‘Freedom’! Believe in Ukraine, ”the account of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry tweeted instead.

On the evening of February 25, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, had announced that the night between Friday and Saturday would be the most difficult. The situation for Kiev was becoming increasingly threatening, with Russian troops close to the capital. Following the message of him the mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschakohe had invited all citizens to run to shelter in a shelter because heavy aerial bombardments were feared.

In several areas, for many hours, machine gun shots and explosions were heard. Thousands took refuge in the various stations of the Kiev metro to find shelter, underground, from the bombing of the Russian army.
