Cole Palmer somewhat surprisingly left Manchester City last summer. The transition came as a bit of a shock, since the young Briton was seen as a great hope for the future in the light blue club. He had also impressed the times he had been given the chance in the A team.
However, Chelsea shelled out big money and promised the 21-year-old regular playing time. He has also received that in the London club.

Palmer has perhaps been Chelsea’s best player this season and on Monday night he again showed brilliant pace.
Against Newcastle, the offensive player kept up with both assists and goals and with that ensured three important points for the hosts.

Only six minutes had been played when Palmer probably went for a finish from the area outside the 16-metre area. However, colleague Niklas Jackson got a foot on the ball before it rolled in between the posts.
Newcastle hit back through Swedish Alexander Isak. The forward took a touch forward, before he coolly and calmly curled the ball into the far corner. A brilliant finish, but Chelsea really messed it up for themselves before the ball found the back of the net.
The teams were level at halftime, although Jackson had a second ball in the net just before the break. It was canceled for offside.

In the second half it was again Palmer’s turn. He received the ball from Enzo Fernández, set it up and fired it into the near corner. The home team was thus back in the lead.

With a little help from a friend from Raheem Sterling, the 21-year-old could get another score soon after. Sterling came alone with the goalkeeper, and had Palmer in a good position, but probably did not see his team-mate when he went for the finish himself. It was saved on the line.
There was still to be more for the hosts and in the 76th minute the Ukrainian Mykhajlo Mudryk fixed goal number three. The substitute tunnelled Sven Botman, rounded goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka and rolled the ball into the open goal. Nice scoring.
Newcastle created new excitement in the final minutes when Jacob Murphy scored a dream goal and hammered home the equalizer for the visitors just before normal time and with six additional minutes there was still hope for Eddie Howe’s men.
However, the away team never got closer to an equalizer at Stamford Bridge.
