Newcastle had little to offer after the break. A quarter of an hour before full time, substitute Mykhailo Mudryk danced through the Newcastle defense and just as well rounded goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. The Ukrainian was then able to roll the ball into the empty goal to make it 3-1.

Jacob Murphy ignited a hope of points for Newcastle with his 2-3 scoring in extra time. The home fans had a few nervous minutes, but got away with it.
