Bulgari has teamed up again with the Japanese architect Tadao Ando for the first artistic collaboration of the Serpenti Tubogas collection. Now, the dial of the iconic reptile expresses the changing tones of a forest throughout the seasons in compositions of green aventurine, tiger’s eye and white or pink mother-of-pearl.

Although Tadao Ando and Bvlgari have collaborated in the past, this is the first time they have worked on the Serpenti collection. In 2020 and 2021, Octo Finissimo’s minimalist designs captured the essence of time through the simple lines of a spiral and the Mikazuki concept, symbolizing the crescent Moon.

Here, the artistic and conceptual journey shared by the architect and the Roman Maison around the theme of time enters a new scope, expressed in four limited editions within the emblematic Serpenti collection.
Four Seasons

To evoke the four seasons, Tadao Ando created colorful marquetry – green aventurine, tiger’s eye and pink or white mother-of-pearl. Bulgari craftsmen have skillfully translated this vision into the watch face. They began by meticulously selecting the most visually striking fragments of each material.
Each piece was then precisely traced and cut. Finally, the fragments were carefully fitted and assembled, creating a play of colors and reflections with organic expressiveness. Highlighting this artistic composition are two rows of diamonds set along the serpent’s head.
The first of four limited editions, to be revealed on the summer solstice, natsu1 captures the lush intensity of a sun-drenched forest, with the vibrancy of slightly translucent green aventurine stone, enriched with dark effects. This striking dial contrasts beautifully with a case and bracelet made from yellow gold and steel.
As autumn, aki2, approaches, the leaves seem to catch fire. Here, tiger’s eye gives the iconic reptile a warm, golden glow, entirely in rose gold and accented with a pink rubellite on the crown. With the onset of winter, fuyu3, the icy beauty of nature is revealed, symbolized by white mother-of-pearl marquetry. Its iridescence is beautifully complemented by a shiny steel case and bracelet.
Spring, haru4, heralds the rebirth of vital energies, a time celebrated in Japan with the blossoming of sakura, cherry trees – a vision reflected in this limited edition Serpenti watch by delicate shades of pink mother-of-pearl in marquetry.
