Celebrities

On March 1st, things get really serious on “Let’s Dance” for the first time this year, because the first celebrity has to leave the show. The “Bergdoktor” actor Mark Keller was wrong before the start of the season, but then did impressively in the get-to-know-you show and bagged 13 points from the jury. Kathrin Menzinger was assigned to him as his permanent dance partner.

But what most people didn’t notice: The 58-year-old injured himself in the live show. He therefore now has to limit his training.

Shocking moment for “Let’s Dance” star

Mark Keller was part of the group that performed a slow waltz last week. The assumption that this dance is less difficult than others is not necessarily true. The actor now explains this RTL:

“When we lifted it in the show, the strain was different than in training and the thumb cracked.”

Kathrin Menzinger adds that the injury occurred during the “very last round”. Mark Keller already had a bad feeling during the broadcast and kept touching his thumb when giving the verdict. A little later, a doctor clarified things: the inner thumb ligament had torn.

“The thumb could be bent down like that,” his dance partner remembers – “That’s why we thought: This will mean an operation!” But Mark Keller is lucky in misfortune. The inner band is only torn, not torn off. This means he can continue to take part in “Let’s Dance” and does not have to be replaced.

This is how show training works now

Although the candidate is now supposedly no longer in pain, the injury still has consequences. “Lifting figures are now taboo (…) Every contact we have has to be more careful”, explains Kathrin Menzinger. On Thursday, she shared an update about the training on Instagram and wrote in a post: “The training was hard, but incredibly fun. We’re really looking forward to tomorrow and hope you’ll join us!”

On the March 1 issue, Mark Keller and she will dance a Cha Cha Cha to “Loco in Acapulco” by The Four Tops. During the introductory show, the jury already certified his elegant appearance on the dance floor. Keller will now want to confirm this impression. At least there is less pressure on him than, for example, on entrepreneur Tillman Schulz, who finished in last place last week and only scored seven points.

Gabriel Kelly emerged as the first favorite from the show. He received a strong 18 points from the jury and also received the coveted wildcard from the TV audience. This means it is safe in show one and cannot be selected from the format.

The first live show of the new season “Let’s Dance” is getting closer and closer. Last Friday, RTL first put the couples together: As always, dance professionals meet prominent amateurs. But which dance styles do the duos have to try out in show number one?
