Doctor, professor at Ufba and spiritist leader André Luiz Peixinho dies, aged 73
The burial will take place this Sunday (31), at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery

Doctor, psychologist, philosopher, teacher and spiritist leader André Luiz Peixinho died last Saturday afternoon (30), aged 73, in Salvador. According to the first information released, he was the victim of a heart attack.
The Spiritist Federation of Bahia announced that the wake will take place this Sunday (31), starting at 10 am. The burial is scheduled for 4pm, at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery.
André Luiz Peixinho was born in Serrinha and was participating in a live broadcast when he fell ill. He was rescued, but he didn’t survive.
Peixinho graduated as a doctor in 1975 from the Faculty of Medicine of Bahia (FMB), of the Federal University of Bahia. Also at Ufba, he graduated in Psychology and Philosophy, in addition to being a professor at the institution.
The director of the FMB, Antônio Alberto Lopes, published a note of condolence about his colleague’s death. In the text, he highlights that Peixinho was a “unique figure, dedicating his life to teaching and the good of all through his community works”.
When expressing condolences to the family, Lopes reinforced that FMB is committed to honoring Peixinho’s memory and continuing the professor’s legacy. “His legacy transcends the classroom and published writing, residing in the profound impact he had on his students, colleagues and all who had the privilege of knowing him,” he added.
With a master’s degree in Internal Medicine and a PhD in Education, Peixinho was also a full professor at the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health.
Peixinho was also president of the Spiritist Federation of the State of Bahia (FEEB) and was a regional representative on the National Federative Council of the Brazilian Spiritist Federation (FEB). In a statement, the national entity highlighted that he “had a journey dedicated to the Doctrine and the Spiritist Movement, working for unification (…). A legacy of love and work in Seara do bem, a mission accomplished.”
