Namely by using his position to arrange awards for certain performance in implementing district government tax and environmental levies.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced the detention of the Regent of Sidoarjo, East Java, Ahmad Muhdlor Ali (AMA) on Tuesday (7/5/2024). This detention was because the suspect was suspected of committing a criminal act of corruption within the Regional Tax Service Agency (BPPD) of Sidoarjo Regency.

Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Johanis Tanak, said that the relevant investigative team had sufficient evidence regarding the alleged involvement of the AMA in the alleged corruption. On this basis, KPK investigators decided to upgrade the legal status to suspect of the man who has served as Regent of Sidoarjo for the period 2021 until now.

“So the Corruption Eradication Commission named and announced the new suspect AMA, Regent of Sidoarjo for the period 2021 to now,” said Tanak in a press conference at the Corruption Eradication Commission Building.

Tanak explained that the suspect’s role as Regent used his position to arrange awards for certain performance in implementing district government tax and environmental levies. Then, the AMA also made regulations in the form of Regent’s Decrees for 4 quarters in the 2023 budget year which were used as the basis for seeking regional tax incentives for employees within the Sidoarjo Regency BPPD.

On the basis of this decision, the Head of BPPD Sidoarjo Regency, Ari Suryono (AS) ordered and assigned Siska Wati (SW) as Head of the General Subdivision of BPPD Sidoarjo Regency Government to calculate the amount of incentive funds received by BPPD employees as well as the amount of deductions from these incentive funds which were then earmarked for US needs and the dominant allocation of money to the AMA.
