American musician Toby Keith, one of country music’s biggest stars, has died. He was 62 years old.
His death was confirmed to “NPR”, the North American public radio, by his publicist. Keith had announced, in 2022, that he was fighting stomach cancer.
Over the course of a three-decade career, Keith found success with songs like ‘Red Solo Cup’, ‘How Do You Like Me Now?!’ and ‘Beer For My Horses’, which he sang with Willie Nelson. In 2001, in the aftermath of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the musician released ‘Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue’, which became a patriotic anthem in the United States, selling more than 4 million copies.
Keith was also known for his public dispute with the Dixie Chicks, after they criticized the then US president, George W. Bush. In 2017, he performed at Donald Trump’s inauguration as president, receiving the National Medal of Arts from him in 2021.
