Also in Ukraine there is a sad record: 793 deaths caused by the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the highest daily level since the beginning of the pandemic: reports the online edition in Russian by Deutsche Welle, which cites the data published by the ministry of Health. There were 25,063 new cases of Covid. According to the Interfax news agency, the overall toll of infections in Ukraine thus rises to 3,058,014, including 71,635 deaths, out of a total of 42 million inhabitants.

Record of daily infections also in Austria, with 9,923, a figure which exceeds the previous peak of 9,586 recorded last year. In official data, the infection rate in the last seven days has gone from 317.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants to 522.4 cases per 100 thousand. If the situation continues to worsen, the country could impose further restrictions. Austrian Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg said last month that if ICUs filled more than a third of their capacity, the government would impose lockdown measures for unvaccinated people. Currently 66.7% of the population is vaccinated with one dose, 64.5% with two doses, among the lowest rates in Europe. The government also announced that all adults are entitled to the booster doses, six months after the second dose
