LONDON – “Time is running out” for the approval of new vaccines specifically created to combat the new variants of Covid. This was stated by Ugur Sahin, founder and CEO of BioNTech, the German company producing Pfizer vaccine against the coronavirus. International health authorities should urgently decide, by the end of the month, whether to approve new vaccines without first requesting clinical data, says the head of BioNTech in an interview with the Financial Timesbecause various studies suggest that vaccines produced to date to fight the pandemic are less effective against new variants of the virus.
