1. FC Saarbrücken remains the cup terror in Germany! In the quarter-finals, the third division team Borussia Mönchengladbach bowled out of the DFB Cup with a 2-1 win and is sensationally in the semi-finals.
Again the golden goal comes in stoppage time. In the previous rounds, Karlsruhe, Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt were shocked with late winning goals and thus knocked them out of the competition.
The first two goals came early in the game. It only took eight minutes before Hack took the lead after a nice combination. But this doesn’t last long.
Saarbrücken hardly got on the offensive in the 90 minutes on the rain-soaked and therefore difficult terrain. Naifi uses the first notable chance to equalize well. The 24-year-old scores from distance – 1:1 (11th).

After that, Gladbach has more of the game, but it is hardly ever compelling – also because Saarbrücken defends well.
With the second real chance in the game, the underdog decides the same. Brünker completed a counter-attack to the golden goal (90th + 3) and once again let the home team celebrate late against a Bundesliga team.
Stefan Lainer came on as a substitute for Gladbach in the 82nd minute, Max Wöber was still out injured.
In the semi-final (2.4.) Saarbrücken will now face 1. FC Kaiserslautern, the second semi-final (3.4.) will be contested by Bayer Leverkusen and Fortuna Düsseldorf.
