CSA draws with Ferroviária in Maceió and leaves the Serie C relegation zone

CSA drew this Sunday (28) with Ferroviária de Araraquara playing at the Rei Pelé Stadium in Maceió and got their first point in this year’s Series C. The result took the club out of the relegation zone, as Sampaio Corrêa, ABC, Londrina and Remo played their games in the round and are behind the Alagoas club in the standings.

At the end of the match, the Azulino team was in 12th place with one point, a negative two goal difference and two goals scored. The round still has four other games: Botafogo-PB and Caxias play at Almeidão at 7 pm, Volta Redonda and Floresta face each other at Raulino de Oliveira at 7:30 pm and tomorrow there are Ferroviário and Aparecidense at Presidente Vargas and São José and Confiança at Francisco Novelletto.

CSA is now preparing to face Londrina at Estádio de Café on Monday (6/5), their game in the third round of the competition. Ferroviária has less time to rest and will play away from home once again, against Floresta in Ceará next Saturday (4/5).

The game

CSA went all out and opened the scoring early. Iury Tanque received an assist from Lucas Marques on the right and scored his first goal with the CSA shirt.

Ferroviária’s equalizer came in the 28th minute with a free kick from Lucas Andrade. Carlão deflected the ball into the middle of the area and veteran defender Jackson scored, leaving everything the same.

The remainder of the first half showed a truncated game with very few opportunities for both teams.

In the second half, CSA came back better, taking offensive actions, but lacking in finishing. Ferroviária only arrived in counterattacks or set pieces.

Coach Cristian de Souza started to change the team, which became more offensive. Raphinha, Miqueias, Erik, Marlon and Alan Pedro (debutant) entered. Vitor Leque, Iury Tanque (with pain in his right thigh), Dal Pian, Gustavo Xuxa and Lucas Marques left.

When the modifications started, the CSA attacked more. In the 34th minute, Miqueias deflected after a good pass from Marquinhos, but Saulo managed to save it in two halves.

In the 36th minute, Juninho Valoura took a long shot, but the ball went to the right of Saulo’s goal. At 39, CSA wasted its best chance in the match.

Erik crossed low, the defense cut back and prevented Marquinhos from shooting, but the ball fell to Miqueias, who just had to complete the goal, but Ferroviária’s defense hindered the Azulino striker’s completion, which went wide.

The CSA was still on top. At 43, Alan Pedro, who made his debut, reached the baseline and crossed backwards in search of Marquinhos. The attacker hit the ball over the goal. But the score was 1-1.

Audience and income

The game had an audience of 4,974 fans at the Rei Pelé Stadium with a gross income of R$82 thousand. However, with the deduction of expenses, which totaled almost R$58 thousand, the CSA was left with R$24 thousand in net income.
