After the alarm for the lack of flournow Cuba has asked the UN for support milk deficiencies. Having long struggled to ensure the functioning of its subsidized milk supply programs for children aged from zero to seven, the Cuban government has officially asked for help from the World Food Programme (Pam) of the UN, which already responded with an emergency dispatch in February 144 tons of milk in skimmed powder. The managers of the WFP headquarters a Havana have indicated that this is to support “the government’s monthly delivery program of a kilogram of powdered milk for children up to seven years old”, in addition to the liquid product available.

The UN body considers a “urgent need” for the continuation of the care plan government, and therefore underlined “the importance of this request”, especially in the context of the “deep economic crisis that Cuba faces”, which is having a “significant impact on the food and nutritional security of the population”.
