Hamburger SV: Police raid in the Volksparkstadion – poster seized

The police searched the Volksparkstadion of the second division soccer team Hamburger SV on Wednesday. The occasion was a banner showing a bloody police helmet that was hung up during the Elversberg home game.

The approximately one square meter large banner was visible in front of the north stand during HSV’s 1-0 win against SV Elversberg last Sunday. It showed a police helmet with a shattered visor and dripping blood.

Investigations against a 33-year-old

According to police, this could potentially publicly incite violence against officers. The public prosecutor ordered a search. The poster was recovered in a room used by HSV-Ultras. A 33-year-old man is being investigated.

HSV fans also presented a great choreography against Elversberg with the slogan “All of Hamburg hates the police”. The club distanced itself from the action. “Our living room, the Volksparkstadion, is no place for hate messages and no place for blanket condemnations of people and professional groups,” said a statement from the HSV. The club also announced a critical exchange with the authors. The club was not aware of the choreography.

However, the current investigation is only directed against the small poster with the police helmet, emphasized a police spokesman. The background to the banners is the dispute over a police operation in Bergedorf, in which hundreds of HSV fans were checked and detained for several hours.
