During this Thursday, the Barcelona Court finally issued its verdict in the case of Brazilian footballer Dani Alves who was accused of sexual assault in a bathroom at the Sutton nightclub in Barcelona on December 30, 2022.

After the trial and the testimony of witnesses in recent weeks, the player was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, five years of supervised release and nine years of separation from the victim.

The sentence was given by section 21 of the Court and given this, Alves, in addition to the sentence, must compensate the victim with 150,000 euros for what happened.

In its verdict, the court concluded that Alves “suddenly grabbed” the woman, threw her to the ground, preventing her from moving, and raped her even though the complainant said “no, she wanted to leave.”

Furthermore, for the hearing “for the existence of sexual assault it is not necessary that physical injuries occur, nor that there be evidence of heroic opposition from the victim to having sexual relations.”

Let us remember that Alves has already completed a year in prison and is in a module with other prisoners who have committed similar crimes and has a cell to himself.

Likewise, he is under strict surveillance in prison since the footballer is in a depressive state to the point that he would seek to make an attempt on his life.

It is worth noting that the footballer’s legal team will analyze the sentence that condemns the player and could appeal to reduce the sentence among other things.
