To coincide with International Women’s Day, Osaka University will hold an international symposium to discuss the need and challenges of creating an environment where school toilets have sanitary products and strengthening menstrual education as a step toward gender equality. The event will be sponsored by the MeW Project.
This symposium will feature Professor Sommer Marni of Columbia University School of Public Health, who is leading the global movement for gender equality surrounding menstruation, and Suzuki, former vice president and dean of Saitama Prefectural University, who specializes in nursing. Professor Emeritus Sachiko and Miyuki Mitsukuri, Director of the Akashi City Civic Life Bureau, who has started providing sanitary products free of charge at schools, will be on stage.The presentation will be followed by a panel discussion.
