Facing the difficulty of transforming scientific and technological achievements
In order for innovation and entrepreneurship to become a new driving force for economic development, it is necessary to face the worldwide problem of transforming scientific and technological achievements. This is why the CICF was born. In 2021, the CIIF was postponed three times due to the need for epidemic prevention and control, but it was finally successfully opened at the end of the year. The project results planned to be exhibited offline and online also reached a new high, reaching 5,000 items. On the afternoon of March 8, 2015, the China Association for Science and Technology and Guangzhou signed the “Strategic Cooperation Agreement.” Guangzhou and the China Association for Science and Technology jointly held the China Innovation and Technology Achievement Exchange Conference and was written into the agreement. In May 2015, the first China Innovation and Technology Achievement Exchange Conference was held in Guangzhou and stayed in Guangzhou permanently.

“Never Ending” Innovation Fair
Starting from the second session, the organizing committee has determined to create a “never ending” innovation fair, and create a comprehensive, hub, and agglomeration nationwide platform for the transaction and transformation of innovation and entrepreneurship across the country.
The 3rd CIIF formally confirmed the “1+1+N” achievement transformation model, namely, an annual exhibition, a CIIF network platform and N normalized achievement transformation bases. This model finally builds a normalized platform mechanism for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements.
The organizing committee sets up normalized achievement transformation bases in achievement transformation institutions, incubators, and science and technology parks, through which they solicit scientific and technological needs from enterprises, and regularly organize various forms of achievement promotion and exchange activities before and after the meeting to make the matchmaking activities more precise In place, the CIIF has established 66 achievement transformation bases, initially forming a service network covering the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and even landed in central cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. The base regularly carries out activities such as matchmaking meetings and project roadshows, and continuously invites venture capital funds, technical experts, and scientific and technological achievements to the door of entrepreneurs. The China International Trade Fair holds more than 80 events through the achievement transformation base every year.
So far, the total number of project results solicited by CIIF has reached 17,000. CITIC Fairs usually hold regular capital matchmaking meetings, and actively introduce investment institutions and financial institutions to participate in depth. With the closer coordination of innovative achievements, talents, capital, industry and other factors, the chain of the CIIF to promote the transformation of achievements has become increasingly complete and efficient.
According to statistics, a total of more than 20,000 innovative and entrepreneurial achievements have been exhibited during the 6 years of CIIF, and more than 700 achievements have been transformed and implemented, resulting in a transaction amount of 50 billion yuan. CIIF creates an “innovation hub city”

Among the many pilot cities of “Science and Innovation China”, Guangzhou is distinguished by its unique characteristics of the “convention and exhibition clothing + technology transaction” model. The bonus point of the innovation fair is very important. Judging from the achievements in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, the CIIF is also helping Guangzhou to become a central node city of the domestic big cycle and a city with a strategic link between domestic and international double cycles, making the position of the hub more stable.
According to the national technology contract transaction data released by the Torch Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2020, Beijing’s technology contract transaction volume was 631.16 billion yuan and ranked first in the country; Guangzhou was 225.653 billion yuan, ranking second only to Beijing in the country’s cities. . It has been held for six years, and many scientific and technological workers have gained more benefits from the transformation of achievements.
