Deputies from Rio Grande do Sul ask for the postponement of the ‘Enem dos Concursos’ in

Federal deputies from Rio Grande do Sul Fernanda Melchionna (Psol-RS) and Daiana Santos ((PCdoB-RS) filed, between this Wednesday and Thursday (1st and 2nd), letters to the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Service, responsible for applying the Unified National Competition (CNU). The documents call for the postponement of the “Enem dos Concursos” in Rio Grande do Sul due to the climate tragedy that is plaguing the entire state.

The tests of the Unified National Public Competition, known as “Enem dos Concursos”, will be administered this Sunday (5) in 228 municipalities across Brazil. Of the 2.1 million registered participants, 80,348 will take the tests in 10 cities in RS (Bagé, Caxias do Sul, Farroupilha, Passo Fundo, Pelotas, Porto Alegre, Santa Cruz do Sul, Santa Maria, Santo Ângelo and Uruguaiana).

No letter forwarded by Fernanda, the parliamentarian asks whether the competition will be postponed, as the safety of the candidates is not guaranteed. According to her, taking these conditions violates the principles of equality and impersonality, as state candidates will face severe difficulties in taking the test.

“Obviously, thousands of candidates will not be able to travel to the test sites and, if they do, their security will be completely compromised. Rio Grande do Sul, once again, is experiencing a catastrophic scenario, a consequence of the climate crisis and poor management of the local government. Candidates should not be harmed in the test, in addition to all the losses they already face. Therefore, we asked Minister Esther Dweck if there is any plan to postpone the exam in RS”, says the deputy.

President of the Human Rights Commission in the Chamber, Daiana Santos also requested that the “Enem dos Concursos” be held be postponed in Rio Grande do Sul.

“In view of this bleak scenario, it is necessary that the competition be evaluated urgently. This extraordinary situation compromises the safety and movement capacity of thousands of citizens of Rio Grande do Sul, including many registered to participate in the exam”, points out Daiana.

“Maintaining the scheduled date for the test would not only harm these candidates due to the difficulty or impossibility of accessing the test locations, but could also put their lives at risk”, explains the deputy.

In the same line as the parliamentarians, the state governor, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), said this Wednesday (1) that he will request the postponement of the Unified National Public Competition in the state.

“We are going to recommend to the federal government that this situation be overcome. This contest became completely unfeasible in the next few days, at the weekend, for the population of Rio Grande do Sul. We are going to request that some type of solution be forwarded to the CNU”, said Leite during a press conference this Wednesday (1st).
