Digital Divide, Eolo and Uncem renew their commitment to cover Italy

The collaboration between the company and the association which aims to develop municipalities and communities in the mountains is five years old

EOLOa leading company in FWA technology and the first B Corp in the telecommunications sector in Italy, e UNCEMa national organization that associates and represents mountain municipalities and mountain communities, have announced the renewal of the memorandum of understanding aimed at the redevelopment and relaunch of mountain municipalities, Alpine and Apennine territories thanks to the diffusion of ultra-broadband.

Over the last 5 years this cooperative relationship has strengthened the commitment to breaking down obstacles to the development of mountain municipalities.

Only in this way, in fact, will it be possible to release their attractive force and successfully engage competitiveness mechanisms compared to other areas of the country, less subject to orographic barriers.

This is a horizon that can be within the reach of local administrations if accompanied by a “future-proof” telecommunications infrastructure. Hence the role of EOLO in this partnership, an operator that thanks to FWA technology allows us to bring ultra-fast connectivity to areas of the country not reached by optical fibre.

EOLO was born with the mission of making a concrete contribution to the social and industrial fabric of the internal areas, preventing precious territories such as the mountain ones from remaining disconnected from the rest of the country. The issue of the digital speed divide is still very current in the country, and is often caused by the orographic barriers that can make fiber-based solutions uneconomical, especially in rural areas with low population density” – commented Guido Garrone, CEO of EOLO – “We believe that it is necessary to collaborate in a positive and participatory manner with organizations and institutions to achieve the common objective of developing ultra-broadband networks and we are convinced that the protocol with UNCEM will continue to create important opportunities for the territories involved, enabled thanks our technology to respond to the growing challenges of the future”.

“The agreement with EOLO is very precious for Uncem – he adds Marco Bussone, National President of Uncem – because in recent years together we have demonstrated that it is possible to guarantee citizenship rights in the territories, through high-speed internet. Mayors and communities have in the FWA systems a clear, effective, economical response to their study, work and leisure needs. The mountain territories, thanks to EOLO’s services, have defeated many gaps and demonstrate that they are not ‘margins’, but rather centers of opportunities, life and commitment”.

With the renewal announced today, EOLO confirms its attention to the territory and the desire to restore value to it. A few months ago the company launched its technology up to 300 Mbps, a goal achieved thanks to constant commitment to research and development. The Busto Arsizio company is also conducting field tests with the aim of reaching 1 Gbps via millimeter wave FWA technology.
