Toledo (Ohio/USA) – Mark Coleman (59) has defeated almost every opponent in his career as an MMA fighter, and now he is fighting for survival. On Tuesday morning, dramatic scenes took place in his home in Toledo, USA.

As various media reported, the fire broke out in the early hours of the morning in the four walls where he lives with his parents and dog “Lil Hammer”.

The Rottweiler woke up his owner Coleman, who acted with presence of mind to save his mother and father from the flames. The fire had already spread to large parts of the house.

When he had brought them both to safety, he went back into the house to save his four-legged friend. But tragically he discovered that “Lil Hammer” had not made it, and so he could only rescue his beloved animal dead.

But things got worse, because when Coleman left the building again, it became clear how seriously injured the man, who was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on March 1, 2008, was. He had apparently inhaled too many toxic gases.

Like Coleman’s good friend, Wes Sims (44), TMZ said, his friend had to be flown to a hospital in the rescue helicopter.

There he is in the intensive care unit, “intubated and sedated,” as Sims said, and fighting for his life.

On X (formerly Twitter), Jonathan Snowden, who said he was in the process of writing a book with Coleman, shared a photo of the former MMA fighter from the hospital.

His two adult daughters, Kenzie and Morgan, who were not in the house at the time of the fire, have one Fundraising campaign started for Coleman.

Almost 57,000 euros were raised within 24 hours. His daughter writes, “If you know Mark Coleman, you know he has the biggest heart, he’s wild, he’s not afraid of anything, loves God and would do anything for his family.”

He has proven that and his family prays that he does not pay for his efforts with his life. In the past three months, the former martial artist has had to undergo four operations due to various spinal and hip damage.
