After his round of 16 exit in Estoril, Dominic Thiem didn’t have much time to get ready for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Monte-Carlo. Just two days after his defeat against Richard Gasquet, the Austrian will face Roberto Bautista Agut on Saturday.
Thiem, who recently complained about problems with his right wrist, would originally have played against Arthur Cazaux. Instead, the former world number three is now competing against Bautista Agut. The seventh meeting between the two will take place on Saturday as the third game after 11:00 a.m. on Court Rainier III.
Thiem has a negative record of two wins and four defeats against Bautista Agut. The Lower Austrian won the last duel so far in Bastad in 2022.
