Palazzo Chigi has released the program and the appointments of Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s visit to the United States. The departure for Washington, the statement reads, is scheduled for Tuesday morning, May 10. The first official meeting will be with President Biden in the White House, in the early afternoon (local time). It will be an opportunity to reaffirm the historic friendship and strong partnership between the two countries.
The last meeting between the two leaders, the press release from Palazzo Chigi points out, was on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Rome last October. Before the bilateral event, the two Leaders will release short statements to the press in the Oval Office. Excellent bilateral relations will be discussed during the meeting and the strength of the transatlantic link will be reaffirmed.
We will talk about coordination with the Allies on measures to support the Ukrainian people and to combat the aggression of Russia. A coordination that is constant, in continuity with the regular contacts also maintained within Quint.
The meeting could offer an opportunity for an exchange of views on global challenges of common interest, on preparations for the G7 and NATO Summits scheduled for June; on cooperation on energy, digital, food and climate change security.
