The draw for the 2024-2025 edition of the League of Nations was held on Thursday in Paris. This edition is also important for determining the last European teams qualified for the World Cup in 2026. The 4 best ranked teams in the Nations League, excluding the teams that finished in the first two places in the groups in the preliminaries, will participate in the play-off matches for the World Cup, alongside by all 12 second place teams.
Romania will play in Group 2 of League C and, according to today’s draw, they will meet Kosovo, Cyprus and the winner of the play-off between Lithuania and Gibraltar.
Composition of the ballot boxes in League C:
Urna 1: Romania, Sweden, Armenia, Luxembourg
Box 2: Azerbaijan, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Faroe Islands
Box 3: North Macedonia, Slovakia, Northern Ireland, Cyprus
Pot 4: Belarus, Lithuania/Gibraltar, Estonia, Latvia.

If the tricolors coached by the selector Edward Iordănescu finish the group in first place, they will directly promote to League B of the next edition of the League of Nations, while the second place leads to the barrier for promotion. At the same time, the 4th place leads to direct relegation to League D, while the 3rd place keeps the national team in the same value echelon of the competition, League C, for the next edition as well.
